Biography: Prof. Gary J. Cheng holds his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Columbia University (2002). He is currently a professor in School of Industrial Engineering and School of Mechanical Engineering, Purdue University. His research interests are in the area of advanced materials and nanomanufacturing, for applications in aerospace, biomedical, energy and environment, and quantum materials, and semiconductors. His research has been published in more than 260 peer-reviewed journal articles and 14 US patents. Professor Cheng was elected fellow of AAAS, ASME, SME, Optica, RSC, RSA, and ISNM.

Biography: Antonio Formisano is Associate Professor of Structural Design at the Department of Structures for Engineering and Architecture of the University of Naples Federico II. Licensed to the role of Full Professor since 2021, his research activity deals with historical and cultural heritage buildings, metal structures, composite materials, seismic retrofitting, structural robustness and sustainability. He chaired several research projects and he was author of more than 500 papers published in international journals and conference proceedings, where he participated as chairman and speaker. He received several awards in the fields of metal structures, innovation technologies, green materials and sustainability.

Biography: Prof. Pierluigi Siano is a Professor and Scientific Director of the Smart Grids and Smart Cities Laboratory at the University of Salerno. His research focuses on demand response, energy management, smart grids, and electricity markets. He has co-authored over 680 publications, with more than 410 in international journals, accumulating over 15,530 citations (H-index: 87). Recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher (2019-2021) by Web of Science, he is among the top 100,000 scientists globally per Stanford University rankings. He has chaired numerous IEEE conferences and serves as an editor for IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, ndustrial Informatics, and other journals. He has led international research projects on smart grids and renewable energy. His papers have received top citation awards, and he has held visiting positions at universities worldwide. Since 2017, he has been an elected member of the EEE Industrial Electronics Society Administrative Committee.

Biography: Mihaela Popescu was born in Craiova, Romania, in 1965. She received the Engineering degree and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Craiova, Romania, in 1988 and 2001, respectively. She also received a Certificate of Habilitation in Electrical Engineering in 2016.

She is currently a Professor at Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Department of Electromechanics, Environment and Applied Informatics, University of Craiova, Romania and Director of Doctoral School of Electrical and Energy Engineering. Her main field of interest includes energy efficiency, power converters, adjustable-speed drives, active power filters, and power quality, with more than 250 journal and conference papers. She obtained through national competition, as a director, 5 multiannual research projects with an equivalent total budget of about 2,226,000 Euro, she was a research team member in other 20 projects, and is the author of 6 patents.

Prof. Popescu is an expert of the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance Higher Education. She is a senior member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a member of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, IEEE Industry Applications Society, a senior member of the Association of Computer Science and Information Technology and an academic member of the Electrical Engineering Research Unit in Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER).

Biography: Dr. Lin Jiang holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Liverpool (2001), along with an MSc and BEng from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Currently a Reader at Liverpool, Dr. [Name] previously served as Senior Lecturer and Lecturer, contributing extensively to electrical and energy systems research. Earlier roles include Senior Lecturer at University of Glamorgan and Research Associate at University of Sheffield, working on EU-funded control systems projects. With a strong background in distributed and large-scale system control, Dr. [Name] has significant expertise in smart energy and advanced engineering systems.

Biography: Ts. Adlan Ali is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Electrical Engineering Technology, Faculty of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Technology, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). He earned his MSc in Electrical Power Engineering with Business from the University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom, and a BEng (Hons) in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom.
His academic and professional career spans more than 20 years, covering teaching, research, programme accreditation, and technical consultation. Adlan’s expertise lies in electrical power systems, protection systems, condition monitoring, and technical and vocational education and training (TVET). He has secured several research grants in power distribution, voltage control, and innovation projects, and has published widely in journals, conferences, and technical reports.
Adlan is a Professional Technologist registered with the Malaysia Board of Technologists and a Graduate Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia. He has served on national committees for skills certification, curriculum development, and occupational standards, and has consulted for industries on sustainable energy management, electrical safety, and advanced manufacturing systems. His work continues to bridge academia, industry, and national policy in advancing Malaysia’s engineering and TVET landscape.

Biography: Bin Wang is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at UM-Flint, where he aims to integrate machine learning approaches and experimental synthesis into materials development for energy and sustainability applications. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from UC Davis and was previously a research associate in the Chemical and Environmental Engineering Department at Yale before joining the faculty at UM-Flint. Beyond his academic pursuits, he is an avid fan of cooking and road trips. He once completed a long drive from Copper Harbor—the northernmost tip of Michigan's Upper Peninsula—all the way down to Flint in a single day.

Biography: Dr. Onyekachi Nwafor is the Founder and CEO of KatexPower, a clean energy enterprise based in Lagos, Nigeria, focused on delivering sustainable solar energy solutions to off-grid and underserved communities. He has over eight years of experience in renewable energy, climate innovation, project development, and energy access, with practical work spanning solar PV deployment, smart energy systems, community energy models, and clean energy entrepreneurship.

Through KatexPower, he has led initiatives supporting households, small businesses, and underserved communities with affordable solar home systems and decentralized energy solutions. His current innovation work includes the development of a Smart Load Management System designed to improve solar energy efficiency, battery protection, and priority load control for homes and small enterprises.

Dr. Nwafor is also actively involved in climate and sustainability advocacy, research, and international policy engagement. His work focuses on advancing inclusive energy transitions, strengthening energy access in Africa, and promoting technology-driven solutions for climate resilience and sustainable development.
